Silk Shading Jay

I loved working this piece from start to finish. Silk shading is such a stunning technique and involves a great deal of attention to detail to achieve the photolike finished work. We frequently see jays in our garden and they are such a colourful sight that I really wanted to stitch one.

Silk shading requires working with a single strand of embroidery floss in a very fine needle, I often found myself with more than 10 needles threaded up and at work at one time to achieve the fine detail.
